Michigan State tuition going up 9.6%
Tuition at Michigan State University is getting a whole lot more expensive. The cost of college is skyrocketing for the coming year. It will effect many families in mid-Michigan. University officials voted on a 9.6% increase. It will take effect this fall and cost the average student about $800 more each semester.
To help students foot this bigger bill, MSU will be offering help. The university will be increasing financial aid by 14%, giving 63-million dollars to students in need, including a program specifically for new students below the poverty level.
The university’s also insisting that if the state does give MSU more money, students will get that money back. Still, it’s of little comfort for those currently footing the bill. MSU is not alone in dealing with this problem. The state’s budget issues are creating major concern statewide.
