Big Blue (U MI) goes green, but on the cheap

FAU (Florida Atlantic U), should no longer be referred to as Find Another University

Due to the recent budget cuts of $113,000,000 affecting 17,000 freshmen at Florida's 11 public universities,  FL State will be trimming its enrollment by 1,500 students, thereby making FAU the school of choice for many of those rejects.  FAU is also feeling the pinch and will cut its enrollment by 1,800.  FAU, the Univ. of FL and the Univ. of Central FL have capped 2008-2009 at the previous year's level.  Prospective students better keep their grades up - or else!

Stanford revising financial aid packages for 2008-2009 school year

After raising over $832,000,000, Stanford has decided to fall in line with some of the Ivy League and offer a free education to students from families with incomes under $60,000.  Students from families with incomes under $100,000 won't have to pay $35,000 per year in tuition.  Families whose incomes are close to these figures are advised to review their income and assets so they can maximize on financial aid.

Columbia crying poverty with 7 Billion Dollar Endowment Fund

Northwestern improving financial aid guidelines

Reported by Jodi Cohen - The Chicago Tribune  Trying to keep pace with the nation's elite schools, Northwestern University announced Thursday it will expand financial aid to help more families afford its pricey tuition and fees. Starting next fall, about 450 of Northwestern's neediest undergraduates each year -- most with annual family incomes of less than $55,000 -- will have their loans replaced with grants, enabling them to graduate debt-free. Cornell joins no-loan club

Cornell University will be giving out more grants and free money to undergraduates beginning with next year.  No more need-based loans for families whose income is less than $60,000. The new directive will cap loans at $3,000 for families who make $60,000 to $120,000 a year.  In the fall of 2009 it will increase to $75,000.
